Mind Building Reading meets all criteria for Reading First and is aligned with state reading standards. These fun activities develop the visual, auditory, and critical thinking (comprehension) skills students need to become successful readers.

Students analyze and solve engaging visual, verbal, and auditory activities to develop the following:
Visual Skills - letter recognition; alphabet sequence; lower/uppercase letters; sequencing; compare/contrast
Phonological Awareness - blend sounds to make words; identify, segment, combine syllables in words; recognize, produce rhyming words; identify initial, final, medial letter sounds; classify vowel/consonant, rhyming/non-rhyming; sequence sounds/syllables; synthesize visual/auditory information
Phonics - letter/sound association; recognize word families; write alphabet letters
Critical Thinking (comprehension) - predict; sequence/summarize events; draw inferences/conclusions; compare/contrast; follow logical reasoning; synthesize illustration/text information; cause/effect
