Description and Features

Bridges the gap between computation and mathematical reasoning for higher grades and top test scores.

Description and Features

The successful completion of this colorful 272-page book will prepare middle schoolers for high school geometry. It covers more than 50% of the concepts taught in high school geometry using a step-by-step approach and teaches the reasoning behind the properties taught in geometry–instead of merely asking them to memorize them. Students are also taught the basics of geometric proofs and coordinate geometry in a way middle school students can understand. Students who struggle with high school geometry usually have lower standardized test scores because it is a fundamental subject in high school standardized testing.

A glossary of terms that every student should master is included. This book can be used as a classroom textbook in Grades 7, 8, or 9 (usually over a two-year period) or as a reference for high school students. This book covers more than the National Math Standards for middle school mathematics.

This book contains the answers. A free, downloadable Detailed Solutions (PDF) is also available.

This book is really encouraging the thinking classroom model in the classroom, I really like how hands on and exploration based the geometry discovery is.

We had to go back to The Critical Thinking Co. because our kids were bored to tears with Saxon. My 11 year old daughter actually hugged her Understanding Geometry math book when we returned to your curriculum.

Mathematical Reasoning presents math in a way that makes it not only simple to learn, but also practical to apply to everyday circumstance (obviously making math more meaningful to him).

As a teacher I like the problem solving activities as these could be used over again or with several students in the classroom.

As a math instructor, I am so happy that it looks like I may have a math-brain in my family after all! He asks to do his math school work (Mathematical Reasoning book) every day!

My son hated math. I saw your curriculum and gave it a try. Wow, what a great fit for my son! Your Mathematical Reasoning curriculum gave him a way to learn math that made sense to him. Thank you!

It has been so good for her because it requires her to think! Sometimes she would get frustrated, but the material was engaging and it kept her motivated to try and figure it out.

I really like that there is a lot of life application, logic and critical thinking sprinkled throughout the book. Lessons do not appear overwhelming or take hours to complete. In fact, most pages take just a few minutes to complete. There is a lot of colorful visual appeal as well, without appearing too childish for these upper elementary kids.

We have truly enjoyed using this book. We started out by just using it once a week but my daughter begged for more! How can I turn down a child begging for Math!?! We are now using it daily and I can see the improvement in her math.
