Your students will develop real-life editing skills for superior writing and top test scores!

Description and Features

This fun, highly-effective 96-page book teaches students in Grades 2-3 grammar, punctuation, spelling, capitalization, and critical reading in a standards-based thinking approach instead of the usual drill and practice found in competing products. Students begin with an easy-to-understand lesson followed by activities that require students to carefully analyze and edit stories, letters, or articles that contain mechanical errors covered in the lesson. This effective method allows students to gain mastery over concepts that will translate into their own writing.

Editor in Chief® Beginning 1 includes lessons and practice with the following concepts:

     •  Capitalization
     •  Apostrophes
     •  Commas
     •  Exclamation Marks
     •  Periods
     •  Question Marks
     •  Quotation Marks
     •  Adjectives
     •  Adverbs
     •  Comparisons

Editor in Chief is a great product. I purchased all the levels. I used it with my kids while they were in school years ago, and now I am using it with my adult ESL class. The students love it and it is helping them a lot.

She absolutely loves the daily worksheets

Purchased this workbook to fill a gap in my daughter ELA curriculum. She loved editing paragraphs but this was something her current curriculum lacked. She absolutely loves the daily worksheets and I like that it covers several topics. Super easy to use and the answer key makes it easy to correct her work. I’m a firm believer in allowing kids to edit their own work and this workbook has really boosted her confidence in writing as well as editing.

I've never come across anything quite like Editor in Chief as a way to prepare for the grammar section of standardized tests and to teach careful proofreading and editing.

Editor in Chief gives kids exactly the specific problems they need to work on to improve grammar and editing skills for the Virginia Standards of Learning exam.

My kids had very low scores on the Iowa Test. Along with our regular curriculum, we added Editor in Chief. In a single year, their scores went way up! I believe it was due to Editor in Chief more than any other factor.

My grammar-resistant son has been using Editor in Chief for a couple of years and now he is able to edit everything! I'm amazed at the differences in his attitude. I owe it to 'EIC' for honing his grammar skills and bringing out the editor in him.

Learning grammar rules and correcting errors are not my children's favorite language exercises. One delightful way to include these important skills is to use the Editor in Chief series.…The lessons are interesting enough to make learning fun.

I was impressed with how Editor in Chief encourages students to be very observant. These books allow students to apply the language rules they have learned and will help you identify weak points in their knowledge of language.

I liked the way the kids responded to the various worksheets. The younger ones gave basic answers while my brightest students gave more creative responses. [T]he questions allowed for that kind of breadth.
